Plain Vanilla Mom

Summer Book Club for Moms Book Review; Maine

in mommy time, summer reading on 30/06/12

So! It’s the last day of June and as promised we are talking about our June book of the month, Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan. Did you read it?  I have to admit I just finished the book last week but it felt good to finally finish a book!

What did you think? Did you like it? I was very intrigued with this one. It was a fun read for me especially being that I grew up in Maine. I love books that I can get immersed in and this was one of those. I was familiar with and could picture so many of the places they were talking about. Even the reference to the local grocery store that was a Shop-N-Save turned Hannaford. We had one of those in my home town, and to this day when I go back to visit everyone still refers to it as Shop-N-Save.

What did you think of the characters? Did you have a favorite? Could you relate to anyone? Did you like the ending? I thought it was good, but I must admit I wanted more. About three quarters of the way through the book I kept wondering how the book would end.  I suspect we know what happens to Alice, but what is your take on it? I kind of wanted to know more about what became of Maggie too and would she ever have coffee with Gabe?

Thank you for reading along with me. I had some blog buddies joining in the fun too. Kitchen Counter Chronicles, The Golden Gleam, Creative Family Fun, Mamas Little Muse, Two Big Two Little. I knew I could get through an entire book with a little help from some friends. This post is all about share, share, share. So enough from me,  tell me what you thought of the book! Lets chat via comments! It’s girl talk time.

I hope you will read along next month too! I’m looking forward to finishing another book. For July’s book I’ve picked Bloom a memoir by Kelle Hampton. This one was especially intriguing to me because it’s written by a blogger. Seeing as I enjoy reading blogs so much I thought this would be a great pick.  I hope you will read along and meet back here to chat again at the end of July.

If you are not already be sure and Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay on top of all the fun.
