With the holidays behind us, 2013 upon us, a new baby ahead of us, and the one year anniversary of this blog quickly approaching, I am finally managing to find five minutes to think about the direction of this blog for the next year.
Ever since I found out we were expecting (aside from being dog tired) my immediate focus went to my family, more specifically the littlest member who still isn’t all that old. I have been trying to absorb every ounce of baby out of him I can while maximizing his one on one time with mama. You see my oldest got seven years before a sibling arrived on the scene. Mr. C gets 17 months! Subsequently blog posts have become few and far between. That said… I do miss writing.
When I started this blog it was because I felt like my life was overflowing with good things and I wanted to a way to document and share all those great moments. I was a few months into a new found love affair with photography and wanted to do something more with my images than just file them away on my hard drive. That is when Plain Vanilla Mom was born. Feb 27th to be exact! I can’t believe it’s been almost one year.
Once the ball got rolling it rather took over. I found myself taking pictures for the blog, rather than blogging in response to what pictures I had taken. Worrying about whether something would make a good “pinnable” image or not. I found myself organizing activities for the blog when the whole reason I started blogging was to record and share the things we were already doing. I wanted to simply record and share life. So…with much reflection, that is what 2013 will be about for this Plain Vanilla Mom. New baby and all, I still plan on keeping this little blog going. I hope you will visit often! There won’t be posts every day, but if you sign up for emails or join us on facebook you can be sure you won’t miss a thing. There will likely be many more pictures and personal reflections to share. There will still be lots of kids activities, and plenty of baking and playing. One of my personal goals for 2013 is to tackle a photography project or two and this seems like the perfect place to share that as well.
