Do you ever wonder if the things we do as a parent sink in or make an impression? I know that we know they do, but aren’t there days where you just wonder if some of the things you do stick? I have felt this way about reading to the babe. I truly value a good book and it’s always been important to me that my children develop a love of reading. I remember going through this with ‘A’ when he was a baby and he now has a great love of books, read at an early age etc so I know I should worry, but I’m a Mom…that’s what I do! I remember the day I got validation from Addison that he was paying attention to what we were doing with books. I kept a basket of books in the living room with his toys and one day as we were sitting there playing he pulled out a book for me to read, and then another, and then another until the entire basket was empty and we had read every single book inside. That was my lightbulb moment with him. Yay! Successful parenting…my kid was going to like books. Well I’ve been going through the same thing lately with C. I started reading to him even earlier than I did with Addison. Sometimes though I really wonder if it’s getting through. Like with most babies I imagine, he rolls around, half pays attention half plays with his feet, grabs at the book and wants to chew on it, you know the drill. There are times when I’ve been discouraged because I’ve wanted to read him a book before bed but he’s too fussy to sit for it. To remedy this I started sneaking in stories while we played on the floor or during quiet time just before we go upstairs for a nap. Well the other day I had my “aha!” moment with him. We were at the bookstore shopping for books for his Easter basket. He was a little more than cranky that day, so in an effort to keep him entertained I handed him one of the books I had picked. The second he had that book in his little hands his mood changed and he began looking at it and “talking” to it. It was as though he was reading it. “ba ba ba ba”… How cute was that! My heart smiled. Something I have been doing for the last seven months is getting through :)
I thought I would share with you a few of our favorites books at the moment. If your babes have some favorite books I’d love for you to take a minute and share them with us. We are always looking for a good book ;)

The illustrations in this book are amazing and the story itself is sweet.
Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown A classic
I like bugs by Lorena Siminivoch
‘C’ loves the brightly colored bugs and textures throughout this book.
This is such a cute book, lots of textures and bold colors. Plus the tail is good for chewing (a bonus when you are seven months old!)
