The things I remember most about growing up are the things we did religiously, year after year, the same way. Things that we did because they were simply tradition. Baking Christmas cookies, carving pumpkins, and dying Easter Eggs come to mind. My Mom may have tried a few (what we now call) “pinteresting” things, but if she did, those aren’t the things I remember.
I guess my point is it’s often the simplest of traditions that bring back the fondest memories of childhood. It certainly is true for me. Kind of makes me wonder if despite all the “pinteresty” things I do with my boys perhaps what they will remember the most really are the simple things. Things we do without fail year after year just because that’s what we do. Things like our annual Easter egg dying. We don’t vary our methods much but regardless it’s always highly anticipated, thoroughly enjoyed and makes for great memories.
Perhaps this week I will take my queues from those thoughts and focus a little more on enjoying the simple things we do every day. Happy Easter
I’m linking this Sunday’s post, just as I did with last week’s to the Simple Things Sunday photography share. I hope you’ll stop by and see how others are taking time to capture & enjoy the simple things.
