What comes to mind when you think about sleep? I think for me, first, is that I’m sure I don’t get enough of it. Then I start to think about my little ones. Their bedtime routines. Their blankie’s, thier books etc. How important sleep is to keeping them their happy little selves. Most nights I look forward to bedtime in our house. I’m happy to say it’s one thing I seem to gotten right as a Mom. We rarely have battles or meltdowns. I think it’s largely due to the fact that from a very early age we’ve instituted early bedtimes as well as routines and then stuck with them! Now… if I could only stick with an early bedtime for myself!
I mentioned in a previous post that it is a personal goal of mine for 2013 to tackle a few photography projects. Well I found one that I think will be easy and fun to share with you here on the blog. It comes via a phenomenal blog, Awesomely Awake. I’m so grateful that I happen to stumble across this. I think it’s just what I needed! 99.9% of my photography is of my kids. As much as I love that, I have been looking for a little creative push. I think that this {Project 52} A Challenge to Stay Awake may offer just that. With a different theme each week it will give me something to think creatively about. I can’t wait! I am actually hoping to take this one step further and not only ‘get the shot’ for the week but also write a little bit around the week’s theme. That will be my personal twist on this challenge and a way to share it with you.
In the meantime, the theme for week 1 is sleep. For this week I challenged myself to depict sleep without including the kiddos in any of the pictures. So… this is what ‘sleep’ looks like in our house.
For everyone reading is an essential part of bedtime…
For my littlest…“blankie” is necessary.
Personally, changing into my pajamas at the day’s end literally changes my mind set.
It’s like removing the day and starting fresh for the night. It seriously clears my head.
‘Friends’ are an essential part of bedtime.
and…Night lights please!
My 8 year old still likes his nightlight too, his current choice being this globe.
If you are interesting in tackling this Project 52 for yourself you can read more about it here. Also don’t forget to Follow us on Facebook and Twitter! I tend to share a lot on facebook as well.
