I’m thinking that this new little one we will be welcoming in Feb may be very creative as he or she has been sucking the creativity right out of me. It’s been awhile since I’ve done much like this with the munchkin man let alone taken many pictures. So, here I am, trying to break out of a rut, and making up (at least a little bit) for it today.
Actually, there have been a few things I’ve been wanting to try with Mr. C for awhile. I have just been waiting for the time to come when he was no longer putting everything and anything in his mouth. Well I’ve been noticing that at almost 13 months, he’s finally doing less and less of that. So, this morning, I decided to pull out our pom-poms and make him a little sensory bin…baby-sized. All I did was put a bunch of pom-poms and some measuring cups (in my mind for scooping) into a smallish rubber maid container. In the end I included the container that we store the pom-poms in and the lid too.
The little guy had TONS of fun with this! I was so thrilled to see him enjoying himself and keeping busy for quite some time. It was perfect for him, and he never once tried to eat a pom-pom! Talk about a great activity for fine motor skills too.
Of course it wasn’t long before dumping all the pom-poms out of the bin made perfect sense!
He must have played with his pom-pom bin for a solid 15 minutes before starting to loose interest. When he finally did, I began to picking up, well trying to pick up at least. The minute I managed to get any pom-poms back in the containers he was at it again. I was struck by how imaginative he was, going and getting a couple of his other toys and bringing them into the mix. He made a car out of the rubber maid container, pushing it all around the living room floor. He even tried to stuff the pom-poms into the holes of his whiffle ball.
As you can see this turned out to be a lot of “F-U-N”… .
