My two little guys (13 months & 2.5 yrs) are starting to interact more. I will often catch them playing side by side. I can tell they are trying. Little E tries his best to follow C around the house. It’s so cute. I could watch them all day. It is still hard to find activities though that they can really enjoy together. I have been making an effort to find something (at least once a day) even if it’s as simple as playing ball on the floor that they/we can all do together. This plastic egg scoop activity fit the bill perfectly.
I set up a large plastic under the bed style bin with some water in it on our kitchen floor. I put towels under it to help deal with the inevitable spills and splashes and tossed in some plastic eggs, a variety of different scoops, a strainer and a few bowls.
There was something for everyone. Little E loves to play in the water and he thoroughly enjoyed handling all those pretty eggs. He even tried in his own 13 month old way to work the scoop. Doesn’t he look so proud of himself? I think he did pretty well!
C still enjoys scooping and transferring activities so by providing a few extra bowls there was plenty of that to be done as well.
I think he was particularly intrigued with how the water would run out from the colander amongst all the eggs.
I added the water element to our egg scoop because I knew E would like it and I thought it might be more of a challenge for C to scoop the eggs if they were floating around. This plastic egg scoop activity would be just as much fun without the water if you don’t like water play in the house, or it would be perfect for the bath tub. I think we may try it there next :)
Little E quickly discovered that the metal ice cream scoop made a very cool sound when whacked against the metal colander. It was music to his ears (although not so much mine).
Doesn’t it look like fun? I think it’s all the pretty colored little pastel eggs. It makes me want to play too! Regardless, this entertained my guys for quite awhile so I bet it will work for you too.
