My family recently had a chance to try these new Veggie Tortilla and Sweet Potato chips from Green Giant. I must admit, when I saw Green Giant on the label I was intrigued. If I’m being honest I’m always on the lookout for the lesser of the evils in the chip isle because well, I love a good chip with my sandwich at lunch. Not to mention if anyone else is eating chips in the house, you can bet that our little Mister C is begging for a chip too. Perhaps these were a healthier choice of chips if there is such a thing?
We received the Veggie Tortillas in Garden Ranch and the Sweet Potato Barbecue flavors to try out for ourselves. They also come in Zesty Cheddar and Sea Salt (both sound delish if you ask me). I dove right in to the ranch flavor first. Huge ranch fan here! I typically like sweet potato chips and buy them often but I found the barbecue a little too spicy for my personal taste. I think I would probably like the Sea Salt ones better. I got so caught up in writing and munching I neglected to take a picture until my snack plate looked like this…
I decided to treat the little guy to a little taste testing/product sampling for his afternoon snack the other day. The subject…Green Giant Veggie Chips of course.
I think he was suspicious at first because I don’t usually encourage him to sit down in front of a huge bag of chips, But…here are his thoughts.
Understandingly skeptical since Mom happily sat me down in front of a full bag of chips. What’s the catch? Not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth he dove right in. It would appear the rule that two chips are definitely better than one applies…
Hmmm… crunchy, ok, Mom…I’m still not sure what you are up to but I’m still not putting this other chip down. And why are you taking pictures of me eating chips anyway?
Ok, Mom’s still in my face with the camera but these chips are yummy so maybe if I smile at her she will let me sit here and keep eating straight from the bag.
The overwhelming favorite in this house is the Garden Ranch. They are a nice hearty chip and both varieties that we had the chance to sample had great bold flavor. I was not sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. As far as being a “healthier” chip. I like that there are real vegetables in the ingredients. They are lower in fat and sodium than your average potato chip though so that makes me happy. That said, I’d rather kill a chip craving with something like these than a regular old potato chip. If I can I find these in our local grocery store I will definitely purchase them. In fact I intend to take advantage of that coupon and hunt down the Zesty Cheddar flavor for myself!
Mister C’s final words on the subject…
“Yummy”
Mom’s final words…
If my two year old is going to share chips on occasion, I would feel better about it being these Green Giant chips than anything.
