We are cramming in all the Halloween fun we can possibly have over the next week and a half and sharing it with you. I hope that maybe you might find some inspiration for some “spooky” Halloween fun with your littles ones too! Like I have said before. Mister C has been very into Halloween this year but I hate to leave the littlest guy out completely. We were able to include him by way of our Halloween Sensory Bags earlier, and today I’m sharing a Halloween themed sensory bin for you that we created with a baby in mind. In fact, I think this might be Little E’s first “official” sensory bin. I did quite a few sensory bins with Mr. C beginning when he was around this age (8 months) and I have been looking forward to doing the same with E. Lets see what he thought shall we?
My main goal in creating this particular bin was finding something that Little E could explore freely and not have it be anything that I was worried about him putting into his mouth. Water seemed to make the most sense for the base. He loves his bath and he loves to splash. I used regular old food coloring to color it orange. Then I scoured the house for anything “Halloweeny” that I could toss in that he couldn’t choke on. I found these little pumpkin treat containers I had picked up at Joann Fabrics and some, what I will call, monster parts that I had stashed in our craft closet. I’m not sure where these came from or why I even had them but they seem to do the trick. I think dollar store has something similar in their seasonal section right now. I added in a wooden spoon and a measuring cup and set everything out on towels to protect the floor. I couldn’t wait for Little E to get up from his nap and play! “E” loved it! He dove right in grabbing, playing, exploring & splashing. 
Just as I expected everything went in the mouth.
But I think his favorite was watching us pour water and trying to catch it.
Mister C had as much fun as Little E did with it! He really enjoyed pouring water back and forth between the small pumpkin containers. Just look at that concentration.
It does this Momma’s heart good to see my two little ones sitting and enjoying, playing and exploring together. I can’t wait to find more things that these two can do & explore together. If you have a baby in the house maybe you could leverage a sensory bin like this too. Please remember to supervise baby at all times around water and any objects that might become choking hazards. Oh and the bonus: After I emptied the water I left the bin with all it’s accessories on the kitchen floor to dry. For better or for worse once I do something like that it’s there to stay for a few days. Since it was still out I set little E in it one evening and he entertained himself all through dinner. So, on my kitchen floor it still sits. I’m getting more mileage out of this sensory bin than I ever thought I would.
