You may have noticed that I have been doing a little writing for Little Pnut’s blog. In exchange for writing for them I am fortunate enough to get a subscription to their special delivery boxes. If you’ve never heard of Little Pnuts I highly recommend you check them out. (and I am not just saying that because I am writing for them either) I was very intrigued by the subscription box company before I started working with Melissa (Founder & Chief Playtime Officer - I love her title) and now that I have gotten to know her and the Little Pnuts brand even better I’m even more impressed. We received our first special delivery back in September. I couldn’t be happier with the quality and the picks that were included in our box. What I’m loving most about Little Pnuts is the fact that the toys you will receive from them are high quality, (not battery operated or plastic toys) beautiful, handmade, often wooden, eco friendly toys. Toys that you might not easily find otherwise. Special deliveries are thoughtfully put together by Melissa and team and are designed with your little one’s age and developmental milestones in mind. I love that so much thought goes into these boxes. The toys you will receive can be used in a variety of ways and although they are geared at your child’s specific age I think you will find they stick around on the playroom shelves much longer than most ;)
Beautiful right? I know I wanted to dig in and play! Here’s what was in our box… My favorite is this number puzzle. It’s definitely Mr. C’s favorite too. He’s pulled it out numerous times and we’ve done multiple activities with the little numbers that come with it aside from just using it as a puzzle. (In fact you might find me blogging about one such activity on the Little Pnuts blog soon).
The first thing that C wanted to play with out of the box was this set of Twist & Turnables by Hape (awesome brand by the way). Even the packaging was cute and kept him entertained as every block was individually wrapped in tissue paper. If I’m to be totally honest though he did get a bit frustrated with this as time went on. I think he was just not quite there yet as far as being able to screw the pieces together so I decided we needed a break. But, that’s ok. I put it up in the closet and we will pull it out again later when he’s a little more ready.
Finally there was this guy, Marcel. Isn’t he darling? He’s so soft and cuddly he could stand on his own, but he’s stuffed, as in filled! He’s been loads of fun and being that he’s a self contained, cute and adorable carry case, he’s perfect for traveling. Inside Marcel is an anything but typical matching game and puzzle that can be played a few different ways. Our favorite way to play is currently the sensory matching. Each card has a texture to it and C loves to feel them, describe them and then match them. It’s fantastic! I love seeing his little mind at work.
I know there are lots of subscription services out there, and honestly, we have tried a few and cancelled them. To me, this one is well worth the price of admission because the quality of what you receive far surpasses any others I’ve tried. Not to mention that Melissa puts a lot of thought into the toys she chooses for these special deliveries. She shares many of the same play philosophies that you and I probably do so I know whatever she puts in that box is going to meet my standards. If you are not a facebook fan of Little Pnuts already follow them. They are a great community, and the page is always updated with any special offers on subscriptions that are available. (Plus you can find out when yours truly is blogging over there). I also love watching what her little ones are up to and her sneak peeks on instagram. We are totally looking forward to our next special delivery which should arrive in December and you can be sure I will share it with you. In the meantime. Happy Playing! PS. I was not compensated for this post, I just am really excited about our special deliveries. All opinions are 100% my own.
