Halloween Tea Light Holders

Alrighty friendlies,  only a couple of days left until Halloween and I’ve got one more craft/activity for you. These Halloween tea light holders are made from upcycled baby food jars. They were as much fun for me to make as they were for my 9 year old. He thought they were pretty cool too. Halloween Tea Light Holders All you need are some empty baby food jars, some glitter acrylic craft paint, and battery operated tea lights. The key here was the glitter paint. You could use almost any acrylic craft paint but the glitter paint I had was much sheerer than the non-glitter kind and it just looks so pretty with, or even without, a tea light in it. To make these adorable little guys, start with clean and dry baby food jars. Squirt a generous amount of paint inside the jar. I start out with about a quarter sized dollop and then put the lid on and shake and roll it around. If that doesn’t quite do it add a little more paint. You want the inside of the jar well coated. Take the lid off and let it dry. It may take a couple of days for the inside to completely dry. All the excess paint tends to sink to the bottom of the jar and it stays tacky for a bit.  You should be able to start decorating the outside of the jar within a couple of hours though. Halloween Tea Light Holders For the outside, we used a variety of materials and really the only limit here is your imagination (and maybe what’s in your craft closet). We made a little frankenstein (my favorite by the way) using googly eyes, some felt, pom-poms and a sharpie to draw on his features. DIY Halloween tea light holders I may be a bit bias but I think these are just absolutely adorable. I love the way they look all lit up and mixed in on our hutch with the other Halloween decor. Doesn’t Frankenstein look cute all nestled in there? DIY Halloween tea light holders Not every handmade decoration we make makes the cut in terms of being saved year after year but I think these are keepers.
