Green Week Highlights & Some Ice and Water Play

You may have seen in a previous post that I’ve been focusing on a color of the week with our little Mr. C who is 20 months old.  As we start out every color week, we go on a little scavenger hunt around the house collecting items in the color of the week. This week was Green!  Per usual I left the bowl out all week on Mister C’s little table and he would play with it from time to time.

We always made sure to point out the color of the week often as we see it so this week we were pointing out green things everywhere. Being spring, there was plenty of it. So many shades of green! Green on trees, green plants, green grass. Lots and lots of green to find. We also drank out of green sippy cups,  played with green soap in the tub,  we made green jello, and even wore green clothes.

By far the highlight activity of green week was our green ice cube and water play. It was all very simple. I made some green star shaped ice cubes using green food coloring and water. I put the ice cubes out in a bowl, gave him a scoop and another container of uncolored water, and let him play around. He was fascinated by adding the plain water to the bowl with the ice cubes and watching the ice cubes melt and the water become greener and greener.

I must warn you we had green hands (and feet) until bath time when they could get a good soak.

See Mom…green feet!

We tried a green craft but it was rather a fail so I’ll save that story for another day. Not a bad color week for us overall, but I think yellow is still his favorite color!
