Glittered Easter Eggs

For whatever reason glitter seems to have taken over my life lately. I’ve truly never been a fan.  Although if I keep up at this pace I will have to start singing a different tune I suppose. But, ever since I made our sparkly Lime Jello Play Dough,  I can’t get enough of the stuff. Well, except for last week when I spilled an entire container of it in my craft closet. You can read about that here.

How to make glittered Easter Eggs

While perusing the aisles at Target not that long ago I happend across some glittery plastic Easter eggs.  They were so pretty but I thought maybe I could make my own. Truthfully, it would have been far easier & neater to just buy the ones I saw at Target, but what would be the fun in that? Besides, then I wouldn’t have had anything to share with you! Glittering the plastic eggs was rather easy. Messy, but easy. Again, if you are braver than I, I am sure your kids would love this project. The results are just beautiful. All you need to make these little gems are plastic eggs (or you could probably use real eggs for that matter), mod podge & glitter. I used some neon glitter that was provided to us by craftprojectideas.com and it did the job beautifully. Simply coat the eggs with mod podge and then sprinkle or otherwise roll them in glitter. To make things easier I stuck a tooth pick in the little hole in the bottom of the plastic eggs and used that as a handle while painting the on mod podge with a brush. (sorry no pictures this time as my hands were covered in glue & glitter). Glittered Easter Eggs I think the eggs speak for themselves.

The glitter from these does fleck off so even though you could theoretically fill these eggs and use them in an egg hunt I would not. For my purposes they are purely for adding a little bling to our Easter basket.
