Foam Flower Garden Craft

Ah Spring! You have finally decided to make an appearance around these north easterly parts. Thank goodness! There are no flowers popping up in our yard yet though and it’s still way to cold for planting them outside but we aren’t letting that stop us.  I’ve seen so many adorable spring flower crafts out there (like this one from Happy Hooligans, or this one from Buggy and Buddy) that I knew we could come up with something.

Foam Flower Garden

After poking around a bit in our craft closet the other day, this Foam Flower Garden was the result.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your Foam Flower Garden:

Use the flower shaped cookie cutters to cut out flower shapes. You could absolutely free hand them if you don’t have the cookie cutters. Then small circles out of yellow foam for centers and free hand leaves from green foam. foam flower garden craft supplies Next put glue dots on all the pieces so your child can stick their flowers together. Regular glue would work as well but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love glue dots for a project like this because they are A).  less messy and B). instantly dry. The instantly dry factor is HUGE for an impatient toddler. It was no time at all before C could begin arranging his flower garden and see his project to completion. This Foam Flower Garden Craft makes a fun spring craft or a wonderful kid made Mother's Day gift Make the garden by filling a terra cotta pot with black beans (aka: dirt). You could even use actual dirt or anything else you might have on hand that looks like dirt. Colored rice comes to mind as a good filler too. Be sure to tape off, or otherwise cover, the hole in the bottom of your pot (if there is one) or you will have beans all over the place! (yes, yours truly didn’t think that fully through the first time around) :D I’m blaming it on sleep deprivation… or lack of caffeine…or maybe both. Foam Flower Garden Craft Project The appeal of this Flower Garden didn’t end there. C loves to periodically ‘check’ on his garden and rearrange the flowers.  He’s given a few away so we’ve even “grown” more. I have to say I’m pretty in love with his little pot of flowers.

This adorable Foam Flower Garden would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift.

I really can not stress how much Mr. C adored this project!  I think this Foam Flower Garden would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift don’t you? This project would pair perfectly with the book Planting a Rainbow, by Louis Ehlert.
