Disclaimer: A big THANK YOU to Oriental Trading Company for providing us with loads of Halloween goodies & supplies to help make these random acts of kindness possible. All ideas, opinions & enthusiasm for Boo-ing people are all our own 🙂
Have you ever been Boo’ed? One of our favorite Halloween traditions is the neighborhood Boo. My kids look forward to it every year. Even more-so than picking out their costumes I think! Speaking of costumes, do your kids know what they are going to be yet? I think we have a future alligator & Kylo Ren here but it changes on a regular basis. Anyway.. I digress…
In case you’re not familiar, “Boo-ing” as it’s referred to, is when you basically put together a treat bag of sorts and drop it on your neighbors’ doorstep. Ring the bell and run, and try not to get caught while spreading a little Halloween fun. There’s usually some kind of poem/note included encouraging the recipient of your Boo to spread the “Boo” far and wide by Boo-ing more neighbors.
This year we are putting a twist on our traditional Boo boxes and spreading a little Halloween love outside of our neighborhood. A true Random Act of Halloween Kindness kind of Boo!
Since we plan on Boo-ing quite a few people we are keeping it simple. We decorated THESE black treat boxes from Oriental Trading company. We glued spooky wiggle eyes all over some and used THIS monster pumpkin decorating kit for others. Super simple & the end result was adorable. I must confess. I am a huge fan of the spooky wiggly eye boxes but the kid favorite, hands down, is the monster boxes.
We are filling the treat boxes with goodies according to who we think we might be giving them to. Since it seems like we are mostly Boo-ing grown ups we are putting in candy, Halloween themed germ gel, Halloween soaps, mini notebooks & spooky pens and a few other fun things I found in bulk like squishy flashing spiders, syringe pens & Halloween self-inking stamps. Even grown ups like to play right? Oriental Trading Companies Halloween pages have loads of ideas. I have to remember this next year when Boo-ing season rolls around again!
Along with the goodies we included a note that is a twist on the traditional Boo note so that recipients won’t feel compelled to have to pass it on. (If you’d like to download a copy of the note you can do so by clicking HERE).
The kids are having a blast dreaming up who we can Boo. The mailman, teachers, firemen, the UPS man…. You get the idea. I think this may go on all month long.
I can’t wait to see how much fun they have delivering these treat boxes! Do you Boo, or have you been Boo-ed? We’d love to hear about it in the comments.
