Thank you to Nature’s Harvest® bread for providing us with coupons, gift card, and gift pack, in order to create this “fintastic” lunch and share information about Nature’s Harvest ® bread. The opinions expressed in this post are my 110% my own and do not reflect the opinions of Nature’s Harvest® bread.
Lunch can be such a chore. Is it just me or is it pretty pretty much fifty-fifty odds that the kids will eat whatever you present them with for lunch? You see, I am the kind of Mom that usually slaps a sandwich on a plate with a few carrot sticks and calls it lunch. My kids take like two bites and their off. You can relate right? Well, I believe I may have found the secret! All those Mom’s making those adorable lunches that you see on Pinterest are really onto something. Like seriously on to something! I can vouch. I had a chance to try out Nature’s Harvest ® breads and make a “Finding Dory” inspired lunch and you know what? The kids were actually excited about lunch! Woohoo!
Speaking of “Finding Dory”? Are your kids as excited about the upcoming release of “Finding Dory” as mine? It won’t be long now! I honestly am not an avid movie-goer and we don’t do many, but this one I am totally signing us up for! I’m as excited as the kiddos.
In anticipation of the new movie we’ve been doing a plethora of ocean themed activities. We even visit the aquarium today. The kids loved the tank with “Dory” & “Nemo” in it! I swear, three and four are the best ages. I just love the way they see the world.
Anyhow, what more appropriate to pair with all our ocean themed activities than an Under The Sea Lunch? So, taking inspiration from our fishy friends & with a little help from Nature’s Harvest ® (because they provided us with the cookie cutters and the bread after all) we were able to pull it off.
What do ya think? Cute right? I never do this. Like never, but my kids thought this was super cool, even my eleven year old was mildly impressed my artistic culinary skills, so maybe, just maybe, if it gets them to eat their celery sticks I might try it a little more often.
You want to make your own Under The Sea Lunch now don’t you?
Ingredients
- Nature's Harvest® Bread in a variety of your choice
- low sodium deli ham
- chive & onion cream cheese
- cucumber
- celery
- blueberries
- red pepper
- fish crackers
Instructions
- To Make the Sandwiches: Spread a thin layer of chive & onion cream cheese on one slice of bread. Add one piece of low sodium deli ham and three very thinly sliced cucumber slices. (I used a vegetable peeler to get the slices paper thin). Add your second slice of bread & then cut out the shell shape using a shell shaped cookie cutter. Repeat the process again for a second "shell".
- To Make the Ocean Scene: Slice about one stalk of celery up thinly to make the sea grass. Cut your red pepper in such a way you get a couple of flatter pieces out of it to make the coral beds. Sprinkle a few blueberries around for ocean bubbles and add a few fish crackers throughout the sea grass. Because you know...fish are friends.
So now we are totally “hooked” on Nature’s Harvest ® bread. Honestly my kids love it. I tried to give my four year old a sandwich today with our “old” bread and he wasn’t having it. He wanted the “new bread”. Have you tried Nature’s Harvest®? Well now is the time. Each variety of Nature’s Harvest® bread has at least 8g or more of whole grains per serving, and it’s not baked with artificial flavors, colors or high fructose corn syrup.
