Elmo. Elmo. Elmo. If you have a 2, 3 or 4 year old you will understand why I need not say more. Sometimes my kids think Mom’s job is really cool. This is one of those times. When we had the chance to play with, try out, and otherwise get to know the new Play All Day Elmo doll there was no way we were going to say no!
Besides, it gave us an excuse to host a party! We wanted to introduce our friends to our new Elmo pal in hopes they would love him as much as we do!
Elmo was, without a doubt, the hit of the party! (Well… Elmo & maybe the adorable Elmo sugar cookies I picked up from our local bakery heehee)!
With over 150 responses and eight different games and activities Play All Day Elmo can keep these little ones busy for a really long time! I love how interactive he is! He plays games like Red Light Green Light and Freeze Dance. Freeze dance! I mean really, how fun is that? (It’s a lot of fun by the way). What’s more, Elmo can actually detect if your child is moving around & playing along with him or not and responds accordingly. It’s so cool. He even knows when he’s upside down! I’ve never seen a toy quite like it. I like that he can be switched between toddler and preschool modes so both my boys can enjoy him at their own level.
I think my 2 year old would be happy to squeeze Elmo’s nose all day! Sometimes Elmo makes a funny honking sound when you squeeze his nose and Little E just couldn’t get enough of it.
Play All Day Elmo is fun to play with but soft and cuddly enough to snuggle with. And when it’s time to wind down you can even switch him to nap time mode. My four year old loves to listen to Elmo play lullabies while we brush teeth and get ready for bed.
For our party with Play All Day Elmo we were also generously supplied with, and thrilled to be able to give our guests, these awesome Playskool My Little Pony Musical Celebration Castle and Jurassic World Tyrannosaurus Rex party packs as thank you gifts.
The My Little Pony Musical Celebration Castle (available this fall) looks like tons of fun! Little ones can take their ponies for rides in an elevator, send them down a slide or send them twirling on the dance floor by pressing the castle tower. Jurassic World Tyrannosaurus Rex is available now. My boys LOVE this dinosaur. His eyes light up, his mouth opens and closes, and he really roars. Our party guests left VERY happy!
Do your little ones love Elmo as much as mine? This Elmo party couldn’t have been easier to throw together.
Party Tips:
When it comes to Elmo red is key. I was able to pick up red plates & napkins at our local dollar store along with some Elmo mylar balloons. (We actually sent each guest home with an Elmo balloon along with their Playskool gifts). The most loved party decoration however had to be these hanging Elmo’s that I DIY’d out of tissue paper balls, also found at the dollar store.
They were the perfect little Elmos! All I had to do was cut eyes & a nose out of card stock (or construction paper) and adhere them with glue dots just so. I’m telling you these are a must if you are having an Elmo party. They even look furry like Elmo! Don’t overlook your local dollar store when it comes time to throw your kids’ parties. I splurged on Elmo cookies from the bakery but if you’ve got the time you could probably manage them yourself. Elmo juice boxes rounded out or Elmo themed party quite nicely. I can’t believe having had three kids this is the first Elmo themed party we’ve hosted. It was so much fun! Have you ever hosted an Elmo party? If you ‘ve got any good tips I would love to hear them in the comments 🙂
Play All Day Elmo is available at most major toy retailers nationwide and online at HasbroToyShop.com.
OMG! LOOOOVE your hanging Elmos! Unfortunately, I am a Cookie Monster fan, and I’d love to know if you could teach me to make those amazing Elmos!!!!! Please show me how you did it! (I’m a pretty clumsy craftslady, so details are important for me to learn).
Thanks so much!
Hi Carolyn! Thanks! I’m glad you liked the Elmos. Hmm…maybe a blog post in the making 😀 Anyway, the Elmos were made from dollar store tissue paper pom pom type decorations that I found in the party section. I just cut out the eyes and nose out of card stock and glued them on. Good luck! I bet you could make some cute cookie monsters!
