Plain Vanilla Mom

Popcorn & Peanuts (The Movie)

in Halloween, recipes on 27/10/15

I can’t believe Halloween is finally upon us! Are you ready? I think we are. We have been up to our ears in Halloween festivities and traditions for the last week or better. We’ve visited the pumpkin patch, picked out costumes, and watched The Great Pumpkin more than a handful of times. Something about the Charlie Brown and the holidays just seem to go hand and hand. Am I right?

All this Charlie Brown business has my kids, and if I’m being honest, us grown-ups too, on the countdown to the new Peanuts movie coming out November 6th!

I don’t think we are alone in our excitement because we found these adorable reusable Peanuts themed ( trick-or-treat ) bags at our local Shaws that they are offering free (while supplies last) with the purchase of three participating products.

A lot of the participating brands and products are ones we buy anyway, like Pop Secret, Horizon Organics and Ziploc, just to name a few (and because those are the brands we bought to get our bag haha).

It seemed only appropriate to make a little treat in celebration of all this Charlie Brown business with the kids and if there’s one thing I remember eating when watching the Charlie Brown holiday specials as a kid myself, it was popcorn. So, we upped the anti a bit and made this Peanuts inspired popcorn snack.

First we popped a bag of our Pop Secret Popcorn and spread that out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool. Next I melted a little white chocolate and dark chocolate that I already had at home and using a spoon just kind of drizzled that all over the popcorn. I could have stopped there but why bother? While the chocolate was still wet, I found some Halloween colored sprinkles in our baking cupboard so I sprinkled a few of those on as well as a few other fall colored chocolate candies that were begging to be used up. The results was… well… see for yourself.

Pure yum! If you don’t devour it all in one sitting, break it up and store it in a sealed ziploc bag for up to a couple of days.

If you haven’t already there’s still time to visit your local Shaws or other participating Albertson/Safeway store and pick up a few of the partipating treats along with one of these cute Peanuts Trick or Treat bags. Oh and don’t forget to see The Peanuts Movie opening in theaters November 6th! (I can’t wait )!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Albertsons Safeway. The opinions and text are all mine.
