Plain Vanilla Mom

Uncommon Goods

in giving, mommy time, reviews on 08/09/14

If you were one of my best friends you can bet that on more than one occasion we’d be headed out together for a little retail therapy. (At the very least we’d be chatting about our latest and greatest finds over playdates and coffee).  To know me is to know I love to shop. Now, since I consider us friends,  I love to share my most fabulous finds with you too!  I do try to limit what I share with you to only the things I deem worthy of sharing with the best of my friends. UncommonGoods definitely fits that bill.

I actually stumbled upon UncommonGoods (headquartered in Brooklyn, NY) long before I was approached to work with them and thought “gee, this place is so cool I would really love to work with them one day”. Well the walls must have ears because sure enough I’ve had the chance.

I was recently asked to choose a piece from their gifts for women collection to review and share with you. Can you guess how hard a task that was for indecisive little ‘ol me? To see what I am talking about you can check out some of their picks HERE. If they were an actual physical store I could browse for hours. Sorry, I’m getting side tracked. Anyway, there was no way I was going to turn down a chance to shop their collection of fabulousness! I chose THIS Links of Love Necklace. I don’t wear a lot of jewelry but when I do I tend to choose pieces that I consider to be chic and trendy, but that still have some meaning or significance behind them. I also look for pieces that I can wear all the time. Dress up or down if you will.  If I’m gifting jewelry, I keep those same criteria in mind. This necklace totally fits the bill.

UncommonGoods exceeded my expectations upon delivery! Since a pictures says a thousand words I’ll let you be the judge.

IMG_0513 IMG_0522I was blown away by the cuteness factor. How could I not be excited to get that in the mail? It was adorably and impeccably packaged.  I would be more than proud to gift this to a friend. I’ve received a fair share of compliments on it (I honestly wear it often),  and although I don’t always think much about the way my jewelry is made, what I love about this piece in particular is that it’s all one piece so the clasp doesn’t slide around to the front of the necklace all the time (if you know what I mean). You can read a little more about the artist and the meaning behind the piece HERE.  And since I’m not above the shameless selfie to show off my new necklace,  you can see how cute it looks on with a plain old t-shirt below.

Like I said I ‘ve had UncommonGoods on my radar for a while. They are absolutely one of my go to shops for unique and personal gifts like these. I love that most of the products they carry are made right in the USA and that about half of what they sell is hand made. In my humble opinion they are perfect, absolutely perfect, for hostess gifts. I recently gifted this to a friend of mine who is a wine lover. Love!

UncommonGoods has, without a doubt, earned a spot on my go-to list when I need a gift that will stand out from the crowd. They have a little bit of everything including a unique selection of items for babies and kids too!

The fine print: I was not compensated for this review in any way other than the necklace I received. All opinions and my love for shopping for unique gifts are 110% my own.
