Plain Vanilla Mom

Making Road Trips Easier

in family, parenting, summer on 04/08/14

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign withPollinate Media Group™ and Wet-Nap but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #showusyourmess  http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

We love a good summer road trip. Dad works long hard hours Monday through Friday but on the weekends we like play.  We do our fair share of day trips in the summer and sometimes end up spending a lot of time in the car.  That often equals a lot of snacking, general eating in the car, roadside picnics and of course pit stopping for summer treats (like ice cream or cupcakes).

Kids + Car + Food = Mess (no matter how you slice it).

To make things easier, this summer, I started keeping a bag in the car that is stocked with everything we might need for our family road trips. Both to keep us clean and sane.  I’m loving how this system is working for our family!

So, what’s in the bag? The contents will largely depend on the ages of your kids but I’ll share with you what we keep packed…

In our Road Trip bag

  • change of clothes for the little kids
  • diapers & baby wipes
  • sippy cups
  • a few small toys (that I don’t care about loosing)
  • germ gel
  • simple dry snacks
  • sunscreen
  • lots & lots of Wet-Nap antibacterial hand wipes for all the ice cream pit stops and general eating that tends happen in the car.
  • a roll of paper towels
  • plastic bags for trash
  • beach towel

Like I said, so far it’s working out great for us. I will tell you the change of clothes and Wet-Nap hand wipes have come in handy on many more than one occasion.

I also love that when we reach our destination I can just grab what I might need (like a couple of small toys or the Wet-Nap wipes) out of the bag and toss them in the stroller or my purse. At any point in time if anything gets used or depleted from the bag I just restock it at the end of the day and return it to the car right then and there so I don’ t have to think about it the next time.

IMG_9845Do you live out of your car like we do?  I wish I had started with this practice sooner!  Here…  I’ll help get you started stocking a road trip bag for your car with a coupon from Wet-Nap for $0.55 off any Wet-Nap product (found in the napkin aisle at Walmart). CLICK HERE to download your coupon while supplies last. If you keep nothing else in your car keep a container of these for clean ups. They are softer and stronger than before, antibacterial and they moisturize with aloe. I was honestly surprised at how soft they were yet how well the cleaned up all our little hands.
