DIY Craft Stick Easter Puzzles

in diy, Easter, Uncategorized on 15/04/14

We are less than a week from Easter and we are busy doing all of our last minute crafting and planning this week. To be honest though with the weather turning nicer I’m pretty much ready to be done with all the holiday activities and get on with living life in general.  That said,  I couldn’t resist sharing just one more.  I’ve seen various versions of craft stick (aka popsicle stick) puzzles all over Pinterest for ages now and decided to try my hand at making our own. I did these myself and just gave them to C to play with but I think older kids might enjoy the process of making them as well as putting them together. C adores these puzzles and couldn’t wait to get started on them once I handed them over.

I had some peeps cookie cutters in our cupboard like THESE that were just calling to be used as stencils. What could be cuter than Peeps craft stick Easter puzzles right? If you don’t have any cookie cutters, no worries, you could use any other kind of stencil that would fit your puzzle or even just freehand something. I free-handed the carrot puzzle (I’m sure you can tell haha) and wouldn’t you know right after I did it I found a carrot cookie cuter waaay in the back of the cupboard a couple days later.

So how do we make these?

In the interest of slowing down the pace of life, getting outdoors & spending more time lingering with my little ones this week, I’m going to let the pictures do the talking as to how to make these lovelies.  Pictures are more fun anyway right?

They are actually a little harder to solve than I thought they would be but they still look cute even when C doesn’t get them put together quite right. He loves trying though.

These would also make an adorable DIY addition to any Easter basket all bundled up and tied with a bow. That was my original plan but I have absolutely no sense of delayed gratification and decided to let C have them right away 🙂

Looking for more last minute Easter fun. Pick up some wooden eggs at your local craft store and dye a few (read how here). If you are coloring eggs this week THIS is our favorite method. And if you have an abundance of plastic eggs around your house like we do your kids might like an activity like this one.

I love this idea for my 4 year old granddaughter. I have so many cookie cutters in my cabinets, that I could be adapt them for different holidays and seasons. Thanks for sharing.
