Every once in awhile I like having the kids do an art project on canvas because it makes it feel..well.. more arty. Plus, its a little sturdier and nicer to display. I recently bought some canvas and decorative buttons with the intention of making something to hang in the baby’s nursery but today I was looking for a project to do with Mr. C and thought to myself ‘Why not?…It might be interesting’. He’s loved doing sticker collages in the past so I thought maybe he would enjoy this activity. As a bonus I’d have something [that he made] to hang in his room.
You could probably use mod podge or some other adhesive but I was going for low-mess here. I love these Zots adhesive dots and use them for lots of projects. I just adhere them to the buttons and let the little guy go to work. He would pick a button from the bowl, pass it to me and I’d put a glue dot on it and then he’s stick it on the canvas. We had a good little system going and it was cute when he would name the colors of the buttons.
See.. Pretty proud of his work! It looks great displayed on his bookshelf among colorful friends or hung on the wall. I love to decorate with kid art whenever I can.
