Plain Vanilla Mom

Where Is The Love | Simple Baby Play

in baby play on 18/05/14

This play idea is brought to you by Knoala – Raise Happier Kids. Knoala is a free app that offers activities for parents to enjoy with infants to preschoolers.

Baby play doesn’t have to be complicated. What might seem quite simple to us can be infinitely captivating for our little ones.  I’m sure you know what I mean. Ever play peek-a-boo over, and over, and over again? That’s why I was so excited when I was introduced to the Knoala app for the iPhone (or iPad). It’s loaded with simple, fun, engaging ideas and activities to inspire play with your little ones. The key word being simple. From what I’ve seen, the majority of the activities in the app can be done with little to no preparation and with things that you likely already have around the house.

I’ve tried a few of the play prompts with Little E but thought I would share this example with you just to show you how truly simple it can be to engage your little one in meaningful play.

Where Is The Love?

Little E loved this activity. It was really so cute watching him. He “loves” his stuffed animals and his blankie all the time but it was a fun twist to put a focus on “giving love” as an activity.  It gave him the opportunity to practice things like following directions (by way of me giving him directions to “go get bunny” or “give bunny loves”) and also worked on his understanding of how we show love by doing things like hugging and snuggling bunny. I have to say it was super cute to watch!

I really do think this is very fun app. From this Mom’s perspective it’s great when you are feeling stumped and need a little inspiration. It’s easy to navigate and find developmentally appropriate activities quickly. I always have my phone nearby so it’s always at my fingertips. We already have a bunch of activities that we want to try bookmarked for later.

Perhaps you ‘d like to give it a try for yourself?

Me again. I asked about the blocks in a different post. Now, I’d LOVE to know where you got the pjs and striped bunny. What is the company? You have the coolest stuff! Thanks!
